Solid, insulated front and back doors, measured and fitted by the same team that quotes them.
There is no single price for a composite door, and anyone who gives you one over the phone is guessing. The cost comes down to the size of the opening, the door style and colour you pick, the glass in it, and the hardware you want on the outside. A standard back door in white with plain glass sits at the bottom end. A wide front door with a side panel, obscure leaded glass and a chrome furniture set sits at the top.
So we survey first, free of charge, and price the actual opening. What you get back is a written figure that includes the door, the delivery, the fitting, the making good round the frame and taking the old door away. No call out charge for the survey, no separate delivery line, and no price that quietly changes once the fitters are on site.
A standard single doorway is straightforward. Wider openings, side panels and anything out of square costs more because the door has to be made to suit.
Plain glazed panels are the cheapest. Decorative, leaded or obscure glass and dual colour finishes add to the slab price.
Handles, letterplates, knockers, spyholes and the lock cylinder all vary. We fit as standard and price anything above that separately so you can see it.
A rotten timber frame or damaged brickwork needs more work than a straight swap. We tell you at the survey, not on the day.
A composite door swap is usually a one day job. Here is how it runs from the first call to the point we drive away.
We come out at a time that suits you, measure the opening properly and check the frame and the brickwork around it. You see the door range, the colours and the glass options in person rather than off a screen.
You get a written price for the whole job. It covers the door, the delivery, the fitting and the clear up. Take as long as you want over it, we do not chase and we do not do discounts that expire at midnight.
Once you are happy we order the door made to your measurements. Delivery to us is free, and we ring you with a fitting date as soon as it lands.
Old door out, new frame in, sealed, adjusted and tested with you standing there. We take the old door and the packaging away and leave the step swept.
The fitting itself is usually half a day to a day depending on the opening and what condition the old frame is in. The wait beforehand is for the door to be made to your measurements, and we confirm that timescale in writing once the survey is done.
A composite slab is thicker and denser, with a solid core rather than hollow chambers, so it takes more punishment. The bigger factor is the lock and the frame it is hung in, which is why we fit a multipoint lock and make sure the frame is packed and fixed properly rather than just foamed in.
Yes. We match the colour and the furniture finish to what you already have, or to the windows we are fitting at the same time. Bring us a photo at the survey and we will tell you honestly whether it will match or only nearly match.
Ten years on the whole door, which means the slab, the frame, the sealed glass units and the hardware. Hinges, handles and the lock are the parts that see daily use, so a guarantee that leaves them out is not worth a great deal.
Yes, and the packaging with it. Removal, disposal and the making good around the frame are in the price we quote, not added on afterwards.
